Festivals are usually about familiarity. The same routines, the same food, the same people, the same feeling every year. So when we realized we would be in Bangalore during a festival, it felt a little disappointing at first.
Being away from home during that time is never ideal.
We considered shortening the trip, but that wasn’t really possible. Work and other commitments had already been planned. So instead, we thought—at the very least, we should find a place where we don’t feel completely disconnected from that festive atmosphere.
That’s how we ended up staying at Sagar Niwas Service Apartments.
We didn’t expect it to replace the feeling of being at home. But we hoped it would make things a little easier.
On the day of the festival, something felt different right from the morning.
There was no rush, no hotel noise, no feeling of being in a temporary place. We woke up at our own pace. The apartment was quiet, comfortable, and familiar enough that we didn’t feel out of place.
Someone started preparing tea in the kitchen, and slowly the rest of us gathered in the living area. Conversations began just like they would at home.
It didn’t feel forced.
We decided to keep things simple. Instead of trying to recreate everything perfectly, we focused on the small things. A few homemade dishes, a little bit of decoration, and just spending time together.
Having a kitchen made that possible. We could prepare what we wanted, when we wanted. It wasn’t about making a big meal—it was about doing something familiar.
That small effort changed the mood completely.
As the day went on, the apartment started to feel even more like our own space. There was no interruption, no restriction, nothing that made us feel like guests.
We had the freedom to celebrate in our own way.
In the afternoon, some of us rested while others stayed up talking. There was no pressure to follow a schedule or step out. Everything happened naturally.
Even in the evening, instead of going out, we chose to stay in. We sat together, shared stories, and just enjoyed the moment. It wasn’t a grand celebration, but it felt real.
And that mattered more.
What we realized that day was simple.
Festivals aren’t only about where you are. They’re about how comfortable you feel and who you’re with.
Sagar Niwas didn’t try to create a festive experience for us. It simply gave us the space where we could create our own.
And because of that, the day didn’t feel like something we had to get through. It felt like something we actually experienced.
By the end of it, the initial disappointment of not being home had faded. In its place was a quiet sense of satisfaction—that even away from home, we had managed to hold on to that feeling.
Looking back, that wouldn’t have been possible in a typical hotel setup.
Sometimes, all you need is a place that lets you live your moments the way you want.
And that’s exactly what we found here.
