Staying Alone in a New City Didn’t Feel Uncomfortable After All

Traveling alone has its own kind of freedom. You move at your own pace, plan your day the way you want, and don’t have to adjust to anyone else’s schedule.

But at the same time, staying alone in a new city—especially for several days—can feel a bit unfamiliar in the beginning.

That’s exactly how I felt when I came to Bangalore.

The trip was a mix of work and personal time. I knew I would be here for more than a few days, so I wanted a place where I could be comfortable, not just manage.

Hotels didn’t feel like the right fit. They’re fine for short stays, but when you’re alone for a longer period, they can start to feel a little impersonal and confined.

That’s why I chose to stay at Sagar Niwas Service Apartments.

On the first day, after checking in, I remember noticing how quiet and relaxed the place felt. There was no rush, no noise, no sense of being in a crowded environment.

I walked into the apartment, kept my bag down, and just sat for a few minutes.

It felt calm.

There was a living space, a bedroom, and even a kitchen. I didn’t need all of it immediately, but knowing it was there made the place feel more like my own.

The first evening was simple. I didn’t step out much. I just stayed in, ordered food, and spent some time settling in. It didn’t feel awkward or uncomfortable, which is something I had expected.

Instead, it felt easy.

Over the next few days, I slowly built my own routine.

Mornings started with tea in the kitchen. It became a small habit, but it made the day feel normal. I didn’t have to step out immediately or adjust to fixed schedules.

Some days were busy with work, while others were lighter. But coming back to the apartment always felt the same—quiet, comfortable, and familiar.

That consistency matters when you’re on your own.

Evenings were probably the most noticeable change from a typical hotel stay. Instead of sitting on a bed or feeling limited to one space, I had a proper living area where I could relax.

Sometimes I watched something, sometimes I just sat and did nothing. And that didn’t feel strange.

It felt natural.

The kitchen became useful on days when I didn’t want to order food. Even making something simple felt grounding. It added a sense of routine that you don’t usually get when you’re traveling alone.

Another thing I appreciated was how smoothly everything worked. The apartment stayed clean, the WiFi was reliable, and there were no small issues to deal with.

When you’re alone, even minor inconveniences can feel bigger. So having everything run without interruption made a difference.

As the days went by, the initial feeling of being in a new city faded. The apartment became a familiar space, something I could return to without thinking twice.

It didn’t feel like a temporary stay anymore.

By the time it was time to leave, I realized something simple.

Staying alone doesn’t have to feel isolating, as long as the place you’re staying in gives you comfort and a sense of ease.

Sagar Niwas did that quietly, without trying too hard.

It just gave me a space where I could be comfortable on my own—and sometimes, that’s all you really need.
